I tend to resist people’s advice when it comes to my body. For far too long, doctors and trainers recommended this or
that exercise or regimen, and didn’t believe me when I tried to tell them that it didn’t work for me. Eventually I just stopped talking to people about it. Late last year, I was busy and stressed and my hip pain returned, worse than ever before. I couldn’t even sit. I was afraid the pain would never lift. My partner made me an appointment with Ginny. I didn’t want to go. I hate being incapacitated and hate having to ask for help. The very first session with her relieved my pain. I felt immediately better. But more importantly, I felt supported and listened to and I even wanted to go back. Ginny gave me a few easy movements and positions that I could do, written on a piece of paper. She was specific, but not too directive—her instructions came with a good attitude that affirmed my trust in my own body. Now, I actually stretch, because Ginny taught me stretches I can do while I cook or make coffee. Easy movements that are simple and subtle, without it being a whole production. And I can do them while standing! That’s awesome. I really don’t like getting down on the floor—too many embarrassing memories of feeling awkward at the gym. But most of all, it’s just such a relief to not be in pain. And to know that there is something I can do about it if my hip starts to twinge again. Erin, age 44

Living with Fibromyalgia, pain is part of my life. My yoga teacher suggested I work with Ginny. I was skeptical that something so simple could actually help, but it does! Now, I regularly use the release techniques and exercises Ginny taught me and they help relieve my pain. Diane, age 68
Earlier today, my lower back was feeling a little sore from sitting in my desk chair all day. When I got a chance, I went on the floor using the posture you showed me. Within a couple minutes, low and behold, no soreness. I like it! Thom, age 66
Thank you, Ginny! I really enjoyed our session. My back feels great, which is kind of amazing considering that I haven’t had much time for my back exercises and my life has been extremely stressful. So glad to have another tool in my arsenal to help maintain good body health. Thank you again! Pam, age 49
During our private session, Ginny led me through some gentle stretches and exercises to release chronically held tension. Her friendly, cheerful demeanor coupled with her depth of knowledge made the session enjoyable and informative. She was always professional and compassionate. Using the exercises she gave me has helped me reduce my pain and tension. I will be referring people to her who could benefit from her skill and guidance. Zelda
Praise for Ginny’s yoga classes
Before taking Ginny’s Yoga Solutions class, I had pain in both knees and plantar fasciitis in one foot…basically, I had difficulty walking more than 10 paces on a good day. Getting up and down off the floor, when necessary, was a chore and even sitting, without fidgeting due to discomfort, was a conscious effort that distracted from what I was sitting to do.
I was in pain constantly and desperate for ideas. I rejected the frequent suggestion to mask the pain with narcotics. And I, like most men I have spoken to, believed that yoga was not for men or that I didn’t want to be the only male in a yoga class. However, as I said before, I was desperate to reduce the daily pain and had to try something different: Then I met Ginny.
Ginny immediately made it okay to hurt without being specific to an injury or traumatic event. She described the exercises to try, and explained about opposing muscle groups: basically, strengthen the muscle that is opposite the one that is painful. Most importantly she stressed that you don’t have to always take time out of your day to do a one hour yoga routine but you can perform the exercises in a 3 or 5 minute block of time, 10 times per day, or more. You can do this at home, at work, while driving, etc.
Light bulb moment: This is great!!
I now walk better, my balance is much better, my pain has minimized, I can walk a flight of stairs without feeling like something is tearing me apart and when I hurt more than the “new normal” I spend a few minutes practicing what Ginny taught me and then move on in to my day. I have taken two of Ginny’s classes and she not only helped me with pain but helped to bring an inner peace with the breathing exercises (my favorite).
I would recommend time with Ginny to help anyone (male or female) heal mind, body and/or spirit.Art, Age 53

For over 25 years, I’ve relied on medication to manage chronic pain in my back, hips, legs and feet. I could not walk without taking pain medication. I have incorporated many of the exercises from Ginny’s Yoga Solutions class into my daily life. The more I do them the better I feel! In the past 100 days I have only taken two pills for pain. I have cleaned my house several times without taking anything for pain. I simply do my stretches before, during and after. I am also taking short walks and goal is to snowshoe this winter. This approach really works!Laurie C. Age 59
Ginny’s gentle guidance improved my yoga practice beyond what I ever thought I could achieve. Patricia
Ginny breaks things down in a way that is accessible and encouraging. She offers classic yoga principles in an endearing and penetrating way.Ellen
Ginny encourages us to pay attention to what our bodies need and to adjust positions for what works that evening. This is particularly unique for classes I’ve been to over the years. She guides us by giving alternate examples and expects us to take it where we need to go. Anne
In this Valley with no shortage of yoga teachers, Ginny’s class is a breath of fresh air. Her anatomy training is impressive and her style is incredibly simple. She is there to get you to understand and to get you out of pain.
Ginny teaches yoga without judgment to those who have never taken a class. Her classes are a bit like receiving vitamins in your dinner. All the sudden your body feels better, you feel stronger, but you barely did anything at all. She makes it very safe to be silly, without calling it silliness. She makes it safe to release, without telling people to relax. She creates educational, informative sacred space for people to learn important ways to rid their bodies of pain.
If you haven’t experienced Ginny’s bodywork, I highly suggest scheduling a session. Wise, smooth, calming and intuitive, it is a gift to be on her table and to be so nourished and supported. Her physical touch feels safe, effortless and mindless, but the result is profound. Courtney
