My approach
Many bodywork techniques help relieve immediate pain but stop short of providing lasting relief. I help to relieve your pain and show you how to keep pain from returning. I’ve developed a specific, 12-week program to support you in making lasting changes. Working with me, you’ll learn what habits keep you in pain. We will work together to weed out these painful habits and – most importantly – cultivate stronger, healthy habits for painless living.
Release: Remove your pain now
We will begin by correcting physical imbalances and relieving muscle tension that cause you pain. You will learn strengthening and relaxation exercises to weave throughout your day to keep pain from returning. You will experience pain relief right away and begin to enjoy comfort and ease in your body.
Realize: Understand how habits keep you in pain
Next, we will identify old habits that reinforce your pain. With my intuitive guidance, you will explore how pain develops from your habits and use that information to break the habits that cause your pain to return.
Revitalize: Cultivate healthy habits for vibrant, painless living
Together, we will create your unique toolkit of physical, energetic, mental, and spiritual practices you can integrate easily into your day-to-day life. With my support between sessions, you will use these tools to build stronger, healthy habits that give you energy. You will learn to prevent pain, relieve pain when it attempts to return, and enjoy increased energy for vibrant living.
It’s not enough to pull out the weed; you must plant a flower in its place.
Changing habits takes time. At first we meet weekly so we can interrupt your old habits before pain starts to return. In months 2 and 3, we meet every other week. In between sessions, you’ll practice specific exercises and relaxation tools and experiment with what works. This way, you’ll build new, stronger, healthy habits that keep pain away and give you more energy.
What happens in a session?
Our sessions will include Integrated Positional Therapy bodywork, Reiki, and related practices including guided imagery, affirmation, breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, physical stretches and strengthening exercises, and relaxation methods.
You’ll leave with a personalized toolkit of simple techniques to explore throughout your day. With my e-mail support between sessions, we will tweak, adjust, and build on what’s working to integrate these tools into your day-to-day life so it’s easy to stick with them.
What is Integrated Positional Therapy bodywork?
During Integrated Positional Therapy bodywork, the practitioner places your body in specific, comfortable positions in which you can fully relax and uses facilitated stretches to release tension in overstretched and contracted muscles. While receiving Integrated Positional Therapy, you lay fully clothed on a massage table or a yoga mat. Sessions end with a personalized wellness plan, including recommendations for short, two-minute exercises to create new patterns to maintain balance.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing art used to balance the flow of Universal life (Rei) energy (Ki) through the body. Reiki promotes the body’s natural relaxation response, releasing blocked energy and restoring balance. While receiving Reiki, you relax fully clothed on a massage table or yoga mat or in a chair. Reiki practitioners use a light touch or hover their hands slightly above your body. Learn more…
Do I have to do yoga to work with you?
No, yoga is not required for this solution to work for you. Mat based yoga may not be your choice for moving your body. For those who do practice yoga, I offer modifications for common postures as tools for strength and balance.
Will working with you help me?
These tools can be effective for all types of pain, particularly for people seeking alternate treatments for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Rotator Cuff Injury, TMJ/Jaw Pain, Epicondylitis/Elbow Pain, Medial Meniscus & Knee Pain, Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Spurs, Tension Type Headaches, Fibromyalgia, Low Back Pain, Piriformis Syndrome, and Sciatica.
Many people experience immediate and lasting relief from this treatment. Since you receive bodywork during each session, you’ll leave feeling even better than when you started.
In large part, your results depend upon your commitment to use the techniques between sessions. I help you stay accountable to yourself. My clients find these tools easy to use in their everyday lives. You don’t need to be dependent on others: I can teach you how to keep yourself out of pain for good.
What if it doesn’t work for me?
My clients report feeling pain free for at least 10 days following a session, and the take-home techniques they learn keep them out of pain for much longer. Together we will find the combination of tools and exercises that will work for you. You will feel the benefits of less pain and more energy, and establish new habits to enjoy painless living.
